Arber Pineapple flavour comes out on top in the flavoured gin category

One of the newest flavours from Signature Brands’ Agnes Arber Gin range, Arber Pineapple wowed the judges in this year’s Gin Guide Awards and scooped the award for Flavoured Gin.

Inspired by the first woman to receive the Gold Medal of the Linnean Society of London, Agnes Arber gins are a range of botanically-infused gins made in honour of a true pioneer of plant anatomy and botany.

Hundreds of gins from over 30 countries around the world competed in the annual Gin Guide Awards 2021, in categories based on production methods, styles of gin, and countries of production.

The winners were selected through a rigorous blind tasting process conducted by an esteemed panel of distinguished gin experts, including spirits buyers for retailers, distillers, authors, and mixologists and managers from some of the world’s top 20 rated cocktail bars.

Each gin’s appearance, aroma, flavour, mouthfeel finish and overall quality and market appeal are assessed to determine the highest scoring gins, based purely on the spirit itself and with no influencer from branding, marketing or country of origin.

Arber Pineapple is one of the newer flavours in the range, which also includes Arber Premium Gin and Arber Rhubarb. Launched in 2019, the gin boasts tropical pineapple and mango tones whilst being beautifully balanced by traditional gin botanicals.

The world’s largest dedication gin competition, the Gin Guide Awards is an independent, global celebration of the historic, diverse and growing gin industry. Recognised and respected by the trade and consumers alike, The Gin Guide Awards serves to highlight exceptional products, distilleries, and people within the gin industry.

Head Judge Paul Jackson, founder and editor of The Gin Guide, said: “The quality and diversity of gins has been absolutely remarkable. British gins and international gins alike showed the depth of skill in distillation and product development that exists in the industry and that is undoubtedly becoming more prevalent in emerging gin markets.”

Arber Pineapple saw fierce competition in its category from around the world and was crowned one of six winners. The judges said: “Agnes Arber Gin is a vibrant, fruity and tropical gin with a pleasingly prominent core of juniper, traditional botanicals and citrus.
Bold aromas of pineapple, mango and grapefruit greet you, while the tropical and sweet fruitiness is neatly balanced on the palate with the dry character that Agnes Arber Premium Gin brings as the base.

It’s a flavoured gin that isn’t heavy or overly sweet and the use of pineapple, as a very little used flavour to date, makes it a very welcome addition to the market with great appeal.”

Nic Ponticakis, Brand Manager for Agnes Arber, said: “Arber Pineapple is one of the newer flavours from the Arber range so we’re over the moon that it’s already winning awards.
Gin has exploded back onto the scene in recent years and both the on and off-trade markets show no signs of slowing with the gin category garnering a huge fan-base.

The gin market is and has been quite crowded for some time yet the availability of pineapple gin is relatively low. The award win proves that Arber Pineapple can stand out in the flavoured gin market and provides a strong point of difference in gin experiences whilst the bold design of the bottle guarantees it will stand out on a back bar.”

Agnes Arber Premium Gins are available to both the on and off-trade, working with its largest distribution partner LWC Drinks.

Available in 70cl and 5cl bottles, the Agnes Arber collection comes with a range of PoS including glassware, tent cards, and bespoke artwork, supported by a dedicated team of Brand Activation Managers who bring the Arber brand to life.
