Environmental Health Officer approved app replaces SFBB diary for hospitality businesses

Hospitality checklist app, Trail, is looking to support independent businesses by offering affordable food safety and hygiene management.

The Solo Plan gives independent hospitality businesses the same capabilities as the major players in the industry when it comes to ensuring food safety. The app also meets FSA food hygiene requirements and has Assured Local Authority Partnership status.

Trail takes away the need for endless paperwork. The digital checklists help hospitality teams comply with food safety while allowing businesses to build a positive safety culture.

EHOs can locate information quickly and easily, helping independents get that all-important hygiene rating of five.

Joe Cripps, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Trail commented: “A visit from the Environmental Health Officer can be nerve-wracking. Especially if you are a small independent where margins are tight.  They can turn up at any time, on any day of the week. They don’t need to book an appointment. Which is why it is so important to have your house in order.

“And the only truly efficient way of bringing this order is by adopting digital practices and processes. Not only will this make your life easier, but it will also mean you will be on the right side of the EHO.

“The price point of digital checklists has been a huge barrier for small businesses though, and we knew there was a need for something incredibly simple and affordable. The Solo Plan will allow independents to have the same resources that previously only the big names of the sector could afford.”

Jay Brown, who heads up operations at Almost Famous Burgers, has seen the impact of Trail firsthand, commenting: “It’s not a paper diary that’s covered in barbecue sauce. The EHO visited almost every site last year and every store was given a five-star rating. It’s great to have the confidence to say that these records weren’t fudged.”
